Look Younger with Facial Rejuvenation
At Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery, we pride ourselves on providing our patients on Cape Cod and the South Shore with revolutionary new treatments that boost self-esteem and help them regain their confidence. From plumping lips to reducing fine lines to tightening the tummy, our board-certified surgeons are here for you every step of the way, and recently, we’ve been adding volume to the face without surgery. Profound is an innovative treatment that has been rapidly increasing in popularity due to its non-invasive technique. If you’re looking to add volume, lift the skin and tighten the tissue in one quick procedure, read on to learn more about Profound.
What Exactly Does Profound Do?
Profound is a clinically proven way to recreate the skin’s building blocks using non-invasive laser techniques; these building blocks are elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. This is a very gentle, heat-based procedure which allows the body to essentially “kick-start” its own production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Radiofrequency is used to deliver energy to specific areas of tissue that are in need of additional volume. Patients will see a significant transformation around the mouth, jowls, lips, and cheeks, acting as a mini-facelift without the lengthy surgery
While Profound can be used on numerous areas of the body, it is typically performed around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks. Profound is also commonly utilized on the neck and jawline as well. To determine which areas you should target, book a complimentary consultation at either our Hyannis or Plymouth offices to discuss your goals with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Jones or Dr. Loffredo.
The Profound treatment can vary depending on the area of the body being treated and the patient’s goals. However, Profound usually takes 45 minutes or less.
Profound uses five pairs of tiny needles that are fitted with an electrode which inject radiofrequency energy into the skin; the top layer of skin will not be damaged. Additionally, a topical anesthetic is used prior to treatment to increase comfort. Our doctors will then move the Profound device gently across the treated area, with pulses of energy being delivered (lasting 3 seconds each). The pain caused by the Profound treatment can be described as minimal. We will provide a numbing cream prior to treatment. After the procedure is completed, you may still feel a little amount of discomfort for a couple hours.
Patients typically see results 2-4 weeks post-treatment with maximum results after 6 months. The natural aging process will continue so patients will need Profound 1-2 years later.
Most of the time patients will only need one treatment. However, depending on your treatment areas and your goals from the Profound procedure, it could take more than one treatment. Our doctors will consult with you to determine the most effective plan.
