What is Juvéderm Volbella and How Does It Work?
Juvéderm Volbella is a smooth gel dermal filler that primarily uses hyaluronic acid, which is commonly used in both Juvéderm fillers and the other fillers we use at our practice. Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced in the body and is typically found in the skin and joints. This acid helps keep tissues hydrated. As an injectable, Volbella is a targeted treatment that affects the area it is injected. What makes it unique is its usage of vycross technology, which combines both high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This technology is what allows it to provide long-lasting results while also being able to treat delicate areas like the lips.
What Can I Expect In Terms of The Volbella Treatment & Results
The first step in any treatment plan with Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery is a consultation visit at one of our three offices in Hyannis, Plymouth, and Sandwich. We are dedicated to providing a wide variety of treatments and ensuring that our highly-trained and certified staff members can help match patients to the treatments that will work best for them.
For injectable treatments, we recommend that patients avoid blood-thinning medications, alcohol, caffeine, and over the counter pain medication prior to getting injections. This helps decrease the risk of bruising at the injection sites. Likewise, we recommend that patients avoid sunbathing or tanning right before getting facial treatments to prevent sensitivity. Finally, you should not wear makeup when receiving injections.
During a Volbella appointment, our master injectors will mark injection spots. Volbella uses lidocaine which is a numbing agent to help decrease discomfort. On top of that, patients can also receive topical numbing cream prior to the injections. Patients will notice instant results after their injections, and this treatment has no downtime. That said, it is recommended that patients avoid strenuous exercise for 1-2 days.
Immediately after your treatment, you may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising. These symptoms usually abate after one or two days. Results differ from patient to patient, but results are usually instantaneous after the injections. The final results typically appear over the course of 1-2 weeks after the injections. Results typically last up to a year, with many patients usually returning for touchups annually.
