What is EMSCULPT?

No Surgery. No Needles. No Downtime.

EMSCULPT is a body contouring procedure. EMSCULPT is the process of burning fat and toning muscle through rapid muscle contraction. With an EMSCULPT machine, a muscle group can be contracted 20,000 times in one thirty minute session. Rapid contractions allow muscles to become toned much quicker than daily gym visits. EMSCULPT technology is also the first FDA-cleared energy technology designed for burning fat and building toned muscle. EMSCULPT has also been backed by many clinical studies.

EMSCULPT & EMSCULPT NEO On Cape Cod

Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery provides both EMSCULPT and EMSCULPT NEO. The original EMSCULPT machine uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) to stimulate muscle contractions in a targeted area. In the same way, the muscles contract when doing sit-ups, squats, or push-ups, EMSCULPT helps tone muscles. This machine is designed purely to help with muscle building and toning. It does not remove fat but carries the benefits of working out muscle groups. This can help both with the appearance of areas of the body like the glutes or abdomen and with your overall wellness as the muscles are strengthened.

EMSCULPT NEO is the latest from BTL that combines HIFEM technology with radiofrequency (RF) technology. While HIFEM helps the muscle group contract, the RF energy heats the fat cells which helps with both fat reduction and skin tightening. This treatment is beneficial for patients who might have a higher body fat percentage and who are looking to decrease body fat and build muscle.

Benefits of EMSCULPT Treatments

EMSCULPT is more than just an aesthetic treatment. Because the EMSCULPT treatment functionally builds muscle in targeted areas, it can help with overall well-being. EMSCULPT NEO has been used as an adjunctive therapy for individuals who need help improving their blood circulation, range of motion, or muscle strength. For example, a stronger core can help improve an individual’s balance and day-to-day life. In surveys, 83% of EMSCULPT patients reported an improved range of motion after receiving EMSCULPT treatments. And according to BTL’s data patients see an average of a 29% increase in strength related to the muscle groups that EMSCULPT was used on. EMSCULLPT has had more than 40 peer-reviewed clinical studies and publications to confirm these benefits in relation to both aesthetics and overall well-being.

EMSCULPT is also well known for its ability to sculpt the body. With EMSCULPT, patients can target areas like their biceps, quads, glutes, or abs. With EMSCULPT NEO’s RF technology it is possible to also tighten the skin and decrease fat around these areas. Our team also provides a variety of body sculpting treatments and can help create tailored plans based on an individual patient’s goals. For example, some patients combine CoolSculpting with EMSCULPT to freeze away fat and then build muscle in its place. Both treatments are localized treatments that focus on contouring a specific area. Similarly, minimally invasive treatments like BodyTite can help patients decrease fat in a specific area of the body,. If you are interested in body sculpting, please contact our team.

What Areas Of The Body Does EMSCULPT Treat?

EMSCULPT machines use a variety of different applicators. The original applicators were used to treat the abdomen and glutes only. However, the smaller applicators can be used to strengthen muscles around the arms and legs. Our office not only has both the EMSCULPT and EMSCULPT NEO but also the different applicators so that we can help our patients get the most out of EMSCULPT. If you have questions about treatment areas, please contact our team.

What Are Typical Results For EMSCULPT?

The manufacturers of EMSCULPT did clinical trials with hundreds of patients. Through these trials, they reported that patients saw on average 16% increase in muscle mass, 19% decrease in body fat in the treated area, 1.5 inches lost in waistline, and a reported 96% of patient satisfaction. Studies have shown that the ideal schedule for treatment is twice weekly for two weeks, followed by one treatment every 3-6 months to maintain results. This adds up to only two hours of treatment in the first two weeks.
