How Does CoolSculpting Compare To Other Body Contouring Treatments?

Dr. Michael Loffredo and Dr. Seth Jones are experts when it comes to body contouring. They have helped countless patients achieve their goals. At the heart of Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery is their belief that the best way to serve their patients is to offer variety. Different treatments have different benefits, elicit different results, and are more compatible with different patients. Every year, there is often an uptick in interest surrounding body contouring treatments before the summer starts. During that time, some common questions we hear at our practice surround whether patients should get CoolSculpting, a different non-surgical treatment, or a surgical treatment. And our answer is always the same: come meet us for a consultation. Truly, the best way to get the results you are looking for is to put your aesthetic goals in the hands of a team that combines experience with a variety of treatments. That said, we love helping answer questions about how different treatments compare to one another, so in this guide, we will cover the benefits of CoolSculpting against some of our newer body contouring treatments, including BodyTite, Quantum RF, and traditional surgery.

How Does CoolSculpting Help With Body Contouring?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment that uses advanced fat freezing technology. As one of the first practices to provide CoolSculpting on Cape Cod, we have helped countless patients with their CoolSculpting treatments. Typically, CoolSculpting is done in a series of treatments over the course of a few weeks. An individual treatment session can take around an hour, and patients often receive a series of treatments depending on their goals. The key benefits of CoolSculpting are that it is non-invasive and it is a no-downtime procedure. Because of this, the treatment is non-disruptive to your daily life. That said, the results from CoolSculpting are subtle compared to more invasive treatments including traditional surgery.

How Does CoolSculpting Compare to BodyTite/Quantum RF

At Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery, we provide a variety of treatment modalities from InMode, including BodyTite and Quantum RF. These treatments rely on targeted radiofrequency technology. The treatments can almost be thought of as a midstep between purely non-invasive treatments like CoolSculpting and traditional liposuction. These treatments are often referred to as RFAL or radiofrequency-assisted liposuction. They are minimally invasive treatments that are done under local anesthesia in our offices. While CoolSculpting works by freezing fat cells and allowing the body to flush out the cells naturally, BodyTite works by melting fat cells using radiofrequency and then sucking the cells out of the body. Because of this, the treatment is more invasive (requiring extremely small incisions for removing the fat cells), but the results tend to be more dramatic. There is also a difference in results over time. CoolSculpting can take months for the full results to appear since the body has to naturally flush out the frozen fat cells. By contrast, BodyTite, like other liposuction treatments, creates immediate results. On the other hand, a CoolSculpting patient can return to their normal everyday schedule immediately after treatment, whereas a patient with BodyTite may need to take a day or two off work while they recover.

How Does CoolSculpting Compare To Plastic Surgery?

While InMode procedures like BodyTite or Quantum RF represent a mid-step, traditional plastic surgery represents the other end of the spectrum. Plastic surgery requires a hospital setting and significantly longer downtime/post-care. Of course, plastic surgery also creates the most dramatic results. This is why the team here at Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery believes in the importance of offering a variety of treatments that are all linked in what they treat, while also allowing for large amounts of variety in terms of expected results, timelines, etc. Even among surgeries, there are options to consider. Traditional liposuction is significantly different from an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), and some patients receive a combination of an abdominoplasty with liposuction.

Find The Right Body Contouring Treatment Plan For Your Goals

There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to body contouring. Every individual patient needs to be treated individually. Here at Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery, our experienced plastic surgeons have spent decades perfecting their ability to match patients to the right treatment or combination of treatments that will get them the results they want.
