Guide to Facial Rejuvenation Treatments
Here on Cape Cod, Dr. Michael Loffredo and Dr. Seth Jones have helped countless patients with their facial rejuvenation goals. At our practice, we provide a wide variety of treatments that include everything from non-surgical treatments like injectables to full face lift surgeries. As such, we often have patients asking questions like “which treatment is right for me” or “what non-surgical options are the best fit for my goals”. Part of why our practice offers so many treatments is that it enables us to help our patients choose treatments that align with their goals and expectations. In this guide, we will discuss these treatments and provide some guidance on how to pick the right treatment. That said, the best option is to always work with a practice like Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery, where there is both a strong variety of treatment options and an experienced team that can help you choose the right treatment.
Surgical Options for Facial Rejuvenation
From a surgical perspective, facial rejuvenation often focuses on lifts and repositioning tissue around the cheeks, jawline, brows, and eyelids. Frequently, patients who are receiving a full facelift combine it with other treatments, including blepharoplasty. By combining multiple lift procedures together, a patient can receive more dramatic results. On the other end of the spectrum, younger patients who are addressing early aging signs might consider a mini-facelift, which targets the lower half of the face.
Full Facelift
Facelifts are the most commonly requested facial surgery since they address the full face. They are frequently combined with brow lifts or eyelid surgery to further help with de-aging, and involve the repositioning and lifting of tissues throughout the face.
Mini Facelift
Compared to a full facelift, a mini facelift is designed to primarily impact the lower face, including the neck, chin, and jowls. This treatment is usually suited for younger patients who have started to notice loose, sagging skin around their jaw.
Brow Lift
A brow lift targets the forehead and upper facial area. The treatment helps with the forehead area and around the eyebrows. It provides a more dramatic result than what patients may receive from injectables like Botox Cosmetic.
Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, known as Blepharoplasty, can be done on either the upper or lower eyelids. The treatment is ideal for people who are noticing bulging, sagging, or wrinkling around their eyelids and can be combined with surgical or non-surgical treatments.
Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Treatments
Of course, there are also non-surgical or minimally invasive treatments that can help with facial rejuvenation. For example, FaceTite is minimally invasive and is a radiofrequency-assisted liposuction treatment that can help with the removal of excess fat around the jowls and lower face. Likewise, millions of people get dermal fillers and neurotoxin injectables like Botox Cosmetic to address lines, wrinkles, and loose, sagging skin. However, it is important to understand the limits of non-surgical treatments. While they can be very effective for minor to moderate changes, they are not the best fit for patients who have significant signs of aging, loose skin, deep wrinkles/folds, or sagging skin.
This is why it is extremely beneficial to work with a board-certified plastic surgeon who also provides non-surgical treatments. Patients who go to a medspa that cannot provide surgery will often be recommended treatments that the medspa can provide, even if they are not the right fit. For the same reason, it is important to work with a well-reviewed, board-certified, and experienced surgeon who has been providing treatments for years. This ensures that not only do you have options, but that you have a team that can partner with you to make sure you receive customized treatment plans based on your goals.
