Guide to Breast Augmentation Surgery: From Consultation to Recovery
Dr. Michael Loffredo and Dr. Seth Jones have helped countless women plan their breast augmentation surgeries. For years, Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery has been lauded as the best place to receive plastic surgery on the Cape. By working closely with their patients, they help answer questions and ensure that their patients understand every step of the process. While our treatment plans are tailored to our patients, which means there is some variability from one patient to another, the overall process is similar. In this guide, we will discuss the phases of breast augmentation surgery. To schedule a consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeons, please contact our team.

Consultation, Treatment Plans, & Answering Questions
The key to a successful surgical journey begins with a strong foundation. During a consultation with either Dr. Loffredo or Dr. Jones, you will have the opportunity to explain your goals, share your questions, and learn about your options. This includes discussing different procedure types, including a breast lift without implants or utilizing implants. For patients getting implants, this can also include discussing the type of implant they will receive. The consultation will also include a medical evaluation and a clear picture of your surgical timeline. In some cases, our surgeons may discuss other treatment options that can be combined with breast surgery for patients whose goals include a full body transformation.
Scheduling Your Surgery
Breast surgery is done under general anesthesia in a hospital setting. Our team will work with you to schedule your surgery here on Cape Cod. We will provide all the information you need regarding immediate recovery and make sure you have everything you need. During your surgical visit, you will receive anesthesia, and our surgeons will then make their incisions, perform the specific procedure(s) you planned, and then stitch you up. Immediately after treatment, you will be under observation while you initially recover, and will then be discharged with specific recovery instructions and follow-up visits scheduled.
Recovery from Breast Surgery
Recovery timelines vary from patient to patient and can be dramatically different based on what procedure(s) you receive. For example, a woman who receives a mommy makeover that combines breast surgery, liposuction, and an abdominoplasty will have a significantly different recovery than someone who only receives a breast reduction surgery. As such, our team will provide you with clear instructions for what to expect, how to manage soreness, swelling, or other similar outcomes, and when you will need to come back for follow-up appointments.
