Schedule A Fat Transfer Surgical Consultation on Cape Cod
Fat transfer procedures are a popular option for patients who are looking to add volume to their breasts but aren’t sure about getting breast implants or a traditional breast lift (mastopexy). While each of these treatments can help reshape the breasts, they do so via different methods and have different results. That’s why our team works with patients to develop tailored treatment plans based on their goals and preferences. If you are interested in getting information regarding breast augmentation, please contact our team. Our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons Dr. Michael Loffredo and Dr. Seth Jones have helped thousands of men and women achieve their aesthetic goals. We would be happy to set up a surgical consultation at our Plymouth or Hyannis practice.
How Do Fat Transfer Procedures Work?
As the name implies, fat transfer treatments work by literally removing fat cells from the body via liposuction and then redistributing them to other areas of the body to add volume. These procedures are most commonly done for the breasts and buttocks. For breasts, fat transfer treatments can help address issues with slight asymmetry or help provide modest results (about half a cup size). If you want to know if this is the right treatment for your goals, please schedule a consultation with our Board-Certified Plastic Surgeons.
How Does Fat Grafting Compare To Breast Implants?
Fat grafting procedures are markedly different from other breast surgery options. One of the advantages of fat transfer procedures is that the treatments use your existing fat cells, so the results look and feel natural. The treatment has minimal to no scarring and generally a shorter recovery time compared to other breast surgery options. Alternatively, patients who are looking to drastically change the size and shape of their breasts are likely not the right candidates for this treatment. Traditional breast implants and enlargement procedures are recommended for patients whose goal is to address shape, size, and symmetry.
What Happens During Fat Transfer Treatments?
Like other breast augmentation treatments, this treatment is done in a hospital setting under anesthesia. After your initial consultation, you will book a surgical appointment with our team. A fat transfer procedure combines different surgical procedures. During your appointment, our surgeons will use liposuction to remove fat cells from areas around the body. The cells are then run through a centrifuge device in order to remove any impurities. The purified fat cells are then injected into tissue layers within the breasts.
Post-Care For Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Procedures
It is important to follow your providers recommendations following any surgical procedure. Common post-care recovery for breast augmentation surgeries include using a compression band or a surgical bra that helps the fat deposits settle. It is common to experience swelling, discomfort and bruising after this procedure especially in the first three weeks after your surgery. It is recommended that you sleep on your back to prevent putting pressure on your breasts. Your provider will also give you directions regarding medications like antibiotics or pain relievers.
