Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Injectables
Injectables can do a lot from helping patients handle signs of aging to helping reshape the face by adding volume to targeted areas. When it comes to injectables, we often talk about two big categories; neurotoxins and dermal fillers. On their own these two categories of injectables each have their unique benefits and results. That said, millions of patients across the country combine them to get the best results.
Botox, Xeomin, DAXXIFY - Injectables That Use Neurotoxins
Neurotoxin Injectable Before
Neurotoxin Injectable After
Botox, Xeomin and DAXXIFY are injectables that all work by freezing muscles to stop creases and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. The most common treatment areas include the upper face, such as the forehead and around the eyes. When choosing between the various neurotoxins for wrinkle treatment, personal preference, price and length of result can all be factors. If you’re new to neurotoxins, you may want to try Botox or Xeomin first to establish your preferred pattern of treatment before switching to a longer lasting product. Some patients who have done Botox Cosmetic or Xeomin in the past might want to try DAXXIFY later on because they will see similar results that potentially last a little longer.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
While many people get treated with both neurotoxins and fillers, they are very different products which treat different areas and concerns. While Botox can treat dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement, fillers can address other fine lines and wrinkles caused by sagging or loss of plumpness in the face. These are known as static wrinkles. Static wrinkles include lines in the cheeks, neck, and jowl areas.
Fillers use hyaluronic acid and similar substances to “fill in” or plump areas that have lost volume and smoothness. This includes wrinkles around the mouth, thin lips, and cheeks that have lost fullness. They may also be used on forehead wrinkles, scars, and other areas that need extra volume for a smoother look.
One of the most popular concerns we treat with fillers is enhancing lips. For this, we typically use products from the Juvéderm or RHA collection of fillers.
To add volume to the cheek area, we are proud to be one of the first cosmetic practices nationally to introduce JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is the first and only filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It helps to give your cheeks a lift, helping restore contour and a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years.
The RHA Collection of Hyaluronic Dermal Fillers is one of the newest collections of fillers we offer, and we were one of the first practices in the country to offer it. RHA Redensity is the ONLY FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler for dynamic lines and is specially designed to treat dynamic wrinkles and folds around the face. It has a gentle quality that allows us to fill even the smallest lines and can help dramatically decrease the visibility of these wrinkles, lines, and folds. The best part? Results can last up to a full year!
Revanesse Versa is one of the newest fillers on the market. Using hyaluronic acid, this filler treats moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth area. It can help particularly with sagging skin that has created wrinkles. This new product not only smooths the folds and wrinkles, but also plumps your skin, helping you look more youthful and vibrant.
Radiesse is a dermal filler used to soften and reduce facial lines such as the nasolabial folds (the lines between your nose and mouth) and the marionette lines (the lines that run down from your mouth). Radiesse can also be used to reshape the jaw line and cheek bone. Results can last up to 12 months and can be seen immediately.
