What Is Morpheus8 & How Does It Work?

Morpheus8 is a non-surgical skincare procedure. This procedure pairs two key technologies together: microneedling and radiofrequency energy.

Microneedling For Skin Care

Microneedling and microdermabrasion are both commonly used in non-surgical skincare procedures. By superficially damaging the top layers of the skin (epidermis); the body responds by producing more collagen. Collagen is a building block in new skin cells, and as we age we produce less of it leading to wrinkles, cellulite, scarring, etc.

Radio Frequency (RF) For Skin Care

RF energy is often used to heat deeper layers of your skin known as your dermis. When combined with microneedling these two individual treatments lead to heightened collagen production in the treatment area. This can help smoothen skin and decrease the visibility of wrinkles.

What Is Morpheus8 & How Does It Work?

One of the most common applications of Morpheus8 is for use around the jawline and face. Because Morpheus8 can decrease the visibility of acne scarring, decrease large pores, and improve the visibility of wrinkles and lines, many patients request facial treatments. At Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery we offer a wide variety of treatments that can help women and men address problem areas around their face and jawlines. This includes many nonsurgical options.

Our goal at Cape is & Islands Plastic Surgery is to help patients leave the “am I good candidate for x procedure” mindset and replace it with “what procedure is a good candidate for me”? By offering injectables, laser services, Morpheus8, and surgical procedures we are able to match patients to a treatment  plan they can be confident in.

Morpheus8 Treatment Guide

Before any treatment plan begins at Cape & Islands, we invite patients in for a simple consultation with one of our providers. Our doctors and nurses can get an idea of your unique body goals and help tailor a treatment plan that meets your goals and budget. An often refrain in the medical aesthetics industry is “are you a good candidate for X procedure”. Here at Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery, we help find procedures that are good candidates for our patients. By offering so many surgical and non-surgical procedures we can match patients to the right plan.

If that plan includes Morpheus8, we will create a procedure plan. For best results, most patients have three Morpheus8 sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Morpheaus8 can safely provide skincare benefits for patients of all skin types and tones. Notably, Morpheus8 is a safer option for patients with darker skin tones. Other skincare procedures may have a higher risk for hypo- or hyperpigmentation. Many patients with darker skin avoid laser procedures because of this risk. Morpheus8 on the other hand has a decreased risk of hyperpigmentation.

Patients generally start to notice some softening of lines, skin tightening, and improvement with acne scarring after a few days past your first treatment. But full results tend to show up a few weeks after your final treatment. This means if your treatment plan requires three treatments, you will not see your full results until a few months after you initially start the treatment program.

Typically patients have reported that their Morpheus8 results lasted a full year. Many patients schedule a follow-up appointment a full year after treatment to help maintain their results. Additionally, good skincare habits can help boost your results.

Morpheus8 is considered to be a safe skincare treatment for patients, provided they go to an experienced provider. While temporary side effects including swelling, itchiness, and redness are common, they tend to go away quickly. Other less common symptoms include pinpoint bleeding and scabbing. Like with any treatment it is important to go to a provider with proper training and experience to get the best results.
