What Is Micro-needling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small needles that prick the skin. These procedures stimulate the development of natural collagen in your skin. As we age our skin produces less and less collagen, and our skin begins to wrinkle, sag, and lose volume. However, micro-needling procedures cause the skin to produce more collagen, making the skin appear smoother and tighter. For this reason, micro-needling is also called collagen induction therapy. Microneedling does more than just improve collagen production. It also increases the body’s natural production of elastin and hyaluronic acid (the same acid that is used in many dermal fillers). There are dozens of procedures that use this technology, however, at Cape & Islands Plastic Surgery we prefer Profound RF from Candela because of its consistent results.
